2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about SHON COLEMAN: Auburn, 6054 307 5.25. Junior entry. Started 25 games in three years. From Memphis, TN. Missed the 2011 season while battling cancer (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). He received 30 months of chemotherapy. Needed a redshirt year in 2012 to complete his recovery. He was granted four years of eligibility starting in 2013 by the NCAA. He started two years at left tackle. Has the frame, long arms, and big hands to get a shot on the left side, but projects more as a right tackle. He does have experience as a right tackle when he flips opposite in the unbalanced package. Flashes a violent punch in pass protection and aggressiveness in the run game. Keeps his feet moving and sliding to mirror a defender rushing the passer. Can quick cut a defender to get their hands down in the short passing game. He does have some waist bend to him by not moving his feet and losing his knee bend at times. He relies too much on his upper body strength. Will lunge and go to the ground at times blocking second level linebackers. Needs to improve his use of hands to control a pass rusher. He will get outside the frame. Question his anchor ability with his narrow base. More of a screen and position blocker. Lacks explosiveness. He is two years away from helping on Sundays. Grades out as an eventual starter with developmental time. Medical exclusion at Combine due to right knee injury. Third/fourth round. (A-35 1/8, H-10 5/8, BP-22, 10-DNP).
