What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JA'MARR CHASE before he made the Cincinnati Bengals' Depth Chart: LSU, 6010 208 4.34. Junior entry, two-year starter, Harvey, LA. Opted out of 2020 season. Won the Biletnikoff Award in 2019 after a record setting sophomore campaign where he totaled 20 touchdowns and 1,780 yards which are both current SEC records. A competitive and physical receiver that attacks the ball and will create on his own after the catch. While his skill set as a receiver, in particular route running and release techniques, will need improvement, there is a lot to his game that will help an NFL offense right away. He is a machine when he is near the ball in the red zone. Even though he lacks desired size for contested situations, his competitive streak and strong hands will make a difference early on. He projects as a year one starter from both inside and outside receiver positions. Physical, aggressive, powerful player who maintains running back-caliber presence and balance throughout contact with defenders. Plays tough and nasty. A true competitor who attacks the ball with his hands and plays through contact. Excellent ball skills that will play bigger than his listed size. Will go up and get to the ball first. High success rate in traffic. Will create on his own after the catch via elite contact balance and top end short area burst. Easy change of direction with excellent vision and anticipation of spacing and angles. Shows an understanding of situations and where to take advantage. Takes his skill set to another level in key situations and near the end zone. Struggles with his release off the line against press coverage. Doesn’t avoid contact and will try too often to play through it, rather than around it. Too much dancing at the point of attack, which can throw off the timing of a quick strike passing attack. Shows some tightness and rigid movement patterns. Route running, blocking, and urgency need improvement. 2019 stats: 84-1780, 21.2 ypr, 20 TD. First round. (A-30 3/4, H-9 5/8, VJ-41, SS-3.99).
