2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about BRIAN ASAMOAH:
Oklahoma, 6002 226 4.56. Junior entry, two-year starter, Columbus, OH. Second-team All-Big 12. Extreme athlete with lightning quick reactions and speed. Somewhat slender build he played inside linebacker and occasionally as an overhang player. Sudden change of direction he can easily adjust in space and make big hits. Quick with inside run fits he gets downhill in a hurry and can outrun blocks. Excellent range in pursuit he covers a lot of ground in chase mode. Normally takes good angles to the ball and can make plays in space. Explosive tackler he runs through tackles and consistently wraps up keeping yards after contact to a minimum. Has shown blitz skill with anticipation at the snap and an extra gear closing on the quarterback. Solid in coverage his ability to cover ground and tackle in space has put him in excellent position to limit gains on short passes. In zone coverage he is adept at getting underneath intermediate routes and forcing a bad throw. His closing ability gives quarterbacks pause making reads in his area. Has the ability to match shifty backs out of the backfield. Tends to run around blocks rather than attack head on. If a lineman can get to him he tends to get knocked back and work off the block from there. Needs to work on gathering on a block and using his hands. Sometimes gets a little out of control and needs to temper his sudden reactions to maintain leverage on the ball. Comes in hot and high on tackles which can cause him to bounce off at times. He is a little light but has the tools of an every down Will linebacker. He could fit initially as a nickel linebacker and special team ace. Was outstanding in kick coverage early in his career.
