Three-year starter. Humongous defensive tackle with height, a thick build, and long arms. Aligns from 0-tech out to 7. Once he gets moving, flashes a strong punch and powerful hands to create significant knockback right on the snap. Has some agility to redirect off blocks and make plays a gap over. Flashes two gap ability and a swim move helps him work around linemen. Can sink his hips and hold the point against double teams with a strong anchor. Flashes ability to slant to a gap, and square up in the hole. Uses sheer size to squeeze through and show up on the other side. Has made some big plays with slants and line stunts. Has made some second effort plays along the line. Gets his hands up on passes and special teams; four pass breakups and six blocked kicks in four seasons. With a clean shot can engulf ball carriers with sheer size to slam them into the dirt. Lacks snap quickness and athletic blockers can get instant leverage on him. Heavy-footed and struggles to make ground quickly. Tall frame and lack of knee bend allow him to get stood up at the snap. Very inconsistent with overall technique, hindering every-down effectiveness. Needs better hand placement to protect his chest better. Gets turned sideways regularly letting linemen force him out of gaps. Has trouble with angle blocks as he lacks contact balance and spends too much time on the ground. Must find ways to be effective in pass rush as he lacks an arsenal of moves and much of a plan. His upright tendency hinders even a bull rush. Sometimes will completely stop when his initial pass rush move doesn't work. His unique traits can't be ignored, but needs considerable development.
