Three-year starter. Two-time honorable mention All-Big 12. Tall edge rusher with very long arms and huge hands on a light frame. Sufficient explosiveness off the line at the snap. Initial pop on contact with the length to separate quickly. Patient cutback defender who reads the situation before committing. Finds creative ways using his length to work around linemen, including an impressive long-arm. Disengages when running backs threaten his lane and fills the gap with toughness. Highlights a few different ways to win in pass rush. Shows a decent side-step and snatch to get around tackles and pursue runners with solid closing speed. Shows a solid swim move and a nasty club with his long arms to work into the backfield. Able to change direction to redirect and pursue quarterbacks climbing in the pocket when he gets too far upfield. Gets his hand in passing windows to break up throws at the line. Impressive turn-and-burn on screens to pursue ball carriers from behind with long strides in space. Punches balls out regularly on tackling attempts; five forced fumbles over last two seasons. Not an overall imposing athlete lacking quickness and twitch. Need to see more violence on contact; often absorbs contact rather than initiating it. Pullers can knock him far out of the picture. Runs the loop often when attempting to speed rush off the edge. Tackles high leading to additional yards-after-contact and outright misses. NFL-level frame but needs to put it all together to make it at the next level.
