Three-year starter. Team captain. All-Big 10 honorable mention this past season. Started 30 games over the past three years. Plays all over the place for Nebraska's defense including safety, nickel, linebacker, and on the edge. Well-built, muscular prospect. Patient defender who will not overcommit before diagnosing what is happening in front of him. At his best in underneath zone where he can leverage shallow targets and get involved at the line-of-scrimmage. Gets in the way of passing windows to pick off passes. Mirrors scrambling quarterbacks well and ready to pounce. Flies in like a hammer to light up receivers; always seeks out contact. Very good understanding of run lanes and fits out his assignment with authority. Notable block destruction and finds ways to get around blockers with strengths and agility. Excellent at locating the ball carrier through traffic and scrapes tight to meet them in the gap. Solid angles to the ball carrier from depth. Tackles with proper wrap-up and leg drive, and allows limited yards-after-contact. Valuable blitzer with his strength, size, and short-area quickness to get around linemen. Always hustling to get to the football from all parts of the field. Skillset will transition well to special teams at the next level. A step slow in coverage, hindering his range and ability to carry receivers and tight ends in man coverage. Can get overwhelmed from depth reading quarterback and receivers, and will lose targets downfield. Hip tightness shows up when changing direction and turning with receivers downfield.
