Two-year starter. Spent one season at TCU prior to transferring to SMU in 2023. Hudson is a free and loose-moving outside receiver who makes plays with smooth body control and coordination. There is sneaky athleticism to his game with the ability to play with varying tempos. This helps put defenders where he wants to before finding a different gear to take advantage of small windows of space. His size and speed are barely average across the board and how he adjusts to playing in a more conventional NFL offense remains unknown, as over 50% of his targets were under five yards downfield. There is enough on tape to project him as a solid number three target because of his natural ball skills and ability to play explosive in tight areas. Has a lot of natural-receiver in him with a tough, gamer mentality capable of playing inside and outside, but he will have to clean up the skill set to hide some of the physical shortcomings. Balanced and savvy footwork as a route runner and ball carrier. Plays comfortably in traffic and near the boundary because of his awareness of both space and defenders. Can make the spectacular grab away from his body while contorting his body in the air. Breaks tackles and grabs yards after contact not with power, but by making himself slippery to defenders. Has carried those movement traits to running a variety of routes at a high level. Can snap out of his breaks to create separation. Does not have enough speed to stay over the top if he initially gains vertical space between him and the defender. Struggles to consistently locate the ball on time, forcing too many drops. Was not a significant big play threat.
