Four-year starter. Defensive tackle with a solid build, burly upper body, and long arms. Quick first step and considerable burst prevents him from getting reached on angle blocks on the snap. Makes engagement with low pad level to get underneath pads and win leverage right off the bat. Tough on contact to create knockback right off the bat and sustain control while walking linemen back. At his best when he can use his tenacious energy to fire into lanes in one-gap schemes. Solid lower half strength to anchor down versus base blocks and give up little ground. Sits down in the gap to handle his run responsibility. Head-up he stays square with eyes in the backfield ready to attack. Bench presses linemen with notable power and long arms to throw them off, and utilizes strong hands to shuck with consistent success to step into lanes. Tough against double teams with a sturdy lower half and contact balance to hold his point without giving up much ground. Excellent agility and foot quickness make him highly effective on slants. Rams into blockers like a bowling ball to set picks and add value in stunts. Can get walked back and driven off the ball when head-up against bigger linemen. Gets stuck to blocks flailing his arms; needs more consistent hand usage to get blockers off of him. Needs to find more ways to win in pass rush, often stalls out when bull rushing. Pass rush plan needs refinement; rarely displays a counter move when his initial plan does not work.
