Three-year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 this past season. Plays his best at nose tackle in both 30 and 40 fronts. Gigantic defensive tackle prospect with a thick upper body, tree trunk, and exceptionally long arms. Gets in your face quickly off the snap. His sheer size makes him a challenge to block and helps him create push in the backfield. Even standing straight up he is still challenging to move with his big frame. Uses active, strong hands alongside his long arms to stand blockers up and perch in his gap. Long-arms linemen with his outside hand free to make himself more difficult to block and ready to swallow runners who challenge him. Feels down blocks coming and uses impressive dip for his size which helps him get under blockers and show up in the backfield. Takes on second blockers in double teams with impressive contact balance and will skinny-up to split. Club-and-swim move with a strong ice pick to work into the backfield in pass rush. High effort player willing to run downfield to catch targets from behind. Heavy-footed and lacking agility to move laterally efficiently. Inconsistencies with pad level can get him walked off the ball on base blocks. Difficulty holding a point in two-gap schemes and may be limited to one-gap schemes where he can attack. Gets uprooted and thrown around far too often for someone of his size. Does not provide a lot of value in pass rush; lack of twitch and athleticism make it challenging to get around linemen in pass protection.
