One year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in 2025. Was a rotational and special team player in 2023-24. Has gained weight and strength while his playing time increased each season as a Hawkeye. Plays from a wide 9 down to a 4i in both a three point and two point stance. High effort player with solid fundamentals. Shows explosiveness at the snap, with a quick first step he can set the edge and take on pullers with an inside arm to clog the hole. Can hold the point and make tackles inside or out. Can be a mauler tackling with power and drive. Has improved and added to his pass rush arsenal with a club and rip along with a bull rush into rip or arm over. Uses various chops and swipes and has an inside counter off a quick first step outside move. Uses a spin move at times, but is less effective with that as he tends to get upright. Has speed to turn the corner and a closing burst, but he gets way more pressure than sacks. Overall he's an average athlete with above average technique and outstanding hustle to overcome deficiency. Lacks ideal length to consistently separate from athletic tackles. Misses way too many tackles and length may be a factor. Will fall off a tackle at times and has lunged and missed. At times gets hung up and upright on blocks when the first move fails. While he has a variety of moves, he can be segmented in execution with wasted movement causing him to stall out and get stuck on the line. Has special team value and could be a solid depth and rotation player.
