Four-year starter. All-Big 12 in 2025. The son of a coach, he was the highest-rated recruit to ever sign with Texas Tech and he ended his injury-riddled career by leading the Red Raiders to the College Football Playoffs. Over his tenure, he never went a full year without missing a game with an injury but he did play through pain repeatedly, including a hairline fracture in 2025. On the field he exemplified toughness and leadership traits required for the position, but the talent with both his arm and legs, is below par for the starter level in the NFL. He can be a valuable asset to a quarterback room as a backup and extra brain with advanced knowledge of the game. Excellent poise and toughness against pressure. Will stand strong and maintain proper footwork. Plays fast and gets the ball out in a hurry, but remains patient where needed. Consistently throws a clean ball. Performed exceptionally well on third and fourth down. Snappy release who will throw to a spot in anticipation. Excellent overall ball protection. Does not have the arm to threaten safeties. Deep ball success never came to fruition. Durability has been an ongoing problem. Did not respond well to altering coverage post-snap. Too many wide misses when he is evading the pass rush. Not much of a creator and relies too much on a clean pocket. Has developmental backup potential.
