Three-year starter. Best projects as an inside linebacker with versatility to play apexed outside the box. Muscular body type lacking weight and notably short length. Calm and composed when reading his keys and will not overcommit. When reading inside run, he attacks linemen in the box with aggression. Latches on with strong hands and a tough punch to hold his ground. Battles through contact with impressive balance to slip past blocks while maintaining a sturdy base. Despite length deficiencies, he finds ways to get off of blocks and work towards the backfield. Drifts to targets in his zone drop to cover them up early in the concept. Can leverage his zone especially well out in the flats to carry and pass off threats. Allows quarterback cues to take him to the ball with great anticipation. Works into passing lanes to get hands on the ball. Athleticism to mirror running backs out of the backfield on shallow routes in man coverage. Breaks down with square hips, proper wrap-up, and technique to finish tackles in space and the box, limiting additional yards. Adds value as a blitzer with burst and aggression to work towards the quarterback. Occasionally too patient and gets to the ball late. Heavy feet when breaking down in space and when scraping with flow. Questionable speed towards the sideline on perimeter plays causes him to fall behind. Tightness in his lower half causes some difficulties leveraging his zone underneath particularly inside. Tight ends and running backs can separate on vertical routes leaving him in the dust.
