Michigan State | Hometown: Wilton, CT | HT: 6031 | WT: 302 | 40 time: 5.20 | Hand: 0912 | Arm: 3134 | Wing: 7700
Two year starter. Played guard his first three years at Wake Forest with 23 starts. Transferred to Michigan State where he was named team captain and starting center. Has had equal starts at all three interior line positions. Is a physical presence and makes all the line calls. Flashes quick snap, step and stab. Very strong at the point of attack. When in combination with the guards, gets good movement off the line of scrimmage. Is better straight ahead than with lateral footwork but can reach to the gap. Shows consistency in snapping the ball from both shotgun and hands under center. Has a solid anchor and keeps the defender within his grasp. He is a battler who will chase down his work. Plays through the whistle. Needs to keep things within his reach, because when he does he locks up defenders. In pass protection when uncovered is effective at making sure no one leaks from a guard. Has a solid anchor and handles bull rushers keeping them on the line. At his best in slide protection locking on the rusher in his area. If covered can punch but quick nose tackles can work moves on him. Gets beat occasionally by arm over. Out of sync chasing down twists. Has short arms and it shows in one on one pass protection. Needs to stay alert to giving up his edge. Foot quickness is a question. Needs to be able to coordinate his snap and stab more consistently. Showed off some movement skills at the Combine. Has a chance to add some depth while refining his skills as a versatile inside player.
