One year starter. This well traveled veteran lineman is a sixth year senior who has played tight end at Tyler Junior College, and then at Colorado followed by Texas State and finally as a senior at Oregon as a right tackle. Was invited to the Senior Bowl, but did not attend. Experienced as a tight end and offensive and defensive lineman. Finally settled in his last three seasons as a right tackle. Has a big solid thick bodied build that fits well at guard. Likely lacks the length to stay at tackle but his versatility is a plus. Has a nasty game day demeanor to coincide with his competitive nature. Shows a strong, quick punch initially and is effective drive blocking. Can knock defenders off the ball. Delivers a strong blow when doubling down. Moves well enough to block in space, constantly keeping his feet moving looking for work. Seems to excel in power run schemes. Athletic in pass protection he delivers a strong punch from within his shoulders. Has shown the ability to reset on the punch and reacts well to movement. Is plagued by high pad level. Struggles against speedy pass rushers. His two handed punch hurts can be off target blocking the edge. His hands can be too wide at times. Needs to develop patience in his pass protection, and let his length be an asset. Opens the gate too quickly at times. Needs to adjust his base to allow him to sustain his blocks. Overall body control and leverage are inconsistent from play to play. Guard is the spot for this brawler. He needs refinement, but he's progressed well for a late comer on the line. His versatility is a plus.
