Three year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in 2025. Undersized but has a thick lower half. Quick twitch interior prospect with short space quickness and agility. Plays with a non-stop motor making a lot of second effort plays. Aligned from a 0 out to a 4i. Extremely quick at the snap, he's adept at hitting gaps and beating blockers to the hole. Excellent lateral mover, he makes plays from alley to alley with rare speed for an interior defender. Consistent to locate the ball inline. At his best on slants and stunts using his quickness to disrupt blocking schemes. Can re-direct reacting to counters and screens. Shows a closing burst chasing down ball carriers in the backfield. Plays with knee bend attacking blockers and can hold the point against single blocks. Versus double teams he can be effective collapsing the drive blocker creating a pile. Pass rush is a work in progress as he relies on his ability to penetrate gaps and use his speed to chase quarterbacks. Flashes hand usage but lacks a clear plan when a blocker gets into his frame. He's not one to collapse the pocket either. Shorter than ideal arms shows up getting separation on blocks as powerful blockers can wash him out. He gets to plays other interior defenders can't, but doesn't consistently make tackles. He lunges at times and misses as lack of length is an issue in those situations. There's a lot to like about Durant as he makes some splash plays, but his stature and lack of overall pass rush production make him a difficult projection in the NFL. He could develop into a rotational 3 technique for a team that values movement inside.
