Three year starter. After red-shirting as a freshman, started 34 games at left and right guard. In 2025 was named first-team All-America and first-team All-Big 10. An athletic guard with a strong upper body with less than ideal length. Plays the game with a competitive nasty edge. Made a huge step forward last season. His short wide base helps him in his drive blocking. Part of an offensive line that had five 200 or more yard games this past year. A solid puncher, he's not the guy defenders want to have clamping you. Plays well behind his hands. Strong inside game staying with his block and getting movement. In pass protection he shows a solid anchor against the bull rush. Has a strong punch to go with a flat back and wide base which helps steering those defensive linemen out of there. Has short arms and runs a bit robotic. Flexibility is key to his future. Needs to continue to work on knee bend. Struggles in pass protection with opponents utilizing the arm over. Because of his relatively short arms his punch can be swatted away by an accomplished rusher. Lateral feet in pass protection are average and he often needs help in sustaining the block. Needs to show better tracking when pulling to target. Has to get his hands on people and grab/pull when they are close. Has had several injuries, missing games over his career. Ideally he can end up with a zone-schemed team, to allow him to do what he knows best. His competitiveness and toughness will allow him to compete at the next level.
