Two year starter. Second-team All-Big 10 in 2024 and 2025. Also a baseball draft choice in 2024 by the Astros. Well-proportioned frame with good upper body strength but below average length. Played a stack linebacker position off the ball anywhere from overhang to over the center. Patient with initial read but when he sees it can get downhill in a hurry. Plays with a hot motor once he gets going and second effort gets him in on a lot of plays. Inside run fits are normally accurate and he attacks blocks with abandon. Has a powerful punch to stun and separate from blocks. Able to get ball side leverage and slip blocks on the move. Adept adjusting pursuit speed to stay on the back hip of a ball carrier moving outside. Has a burst scraping to the alley and squares up tackles with wrap and drive tackling skill. Shows blitz ability with timing to hit gaps at the snap. Effective on cross stunts often getting a free run. In coverage gets into drops and has enough agility to flip his hips and find the throwing lane underneath. Can be slow processing route combinations and pass drops are often too shallow. Struggles with play action and is often caught up inside and slow to re-trace steps. While he rarely misses tackles, his below average length can be problematic on angle tackles against powerful runners. Inconsistent chasing to the perimeter as he lacks the extra gear in pursuit. At times gets caught up inside flying downhill and under runs or misses a fit. He's been a core special team player and that value will put him in line as a solid backup and special team ace.
