Two-year starter. All-Big 10 in 2025. Lane is a long and smooth operator who gives the passer a wide target to throw to. Has a reel filled with spectacular catches around and in the end zone that display game-altering playmaking ability. There is a reason why he was such a go-to weapon for first downs and touchdowns, as 75% of his catches over the last two seasons fell under that umbrella. He is a possession receiver who can move the chains and win the 50/50 ball but the overall lack of explosive traits and physicality will make it difficult for him to be an every down asset. Light footwork and a bendable frame give him the ability to adjust with full control. Gets to the ball with his hands and shows excellent coordination. Balanced at all times. Has some long stride speed to him that helps him stay over the top on vertical routes. Space aware and can find vacancies against zone coverage. Plays tall and lags a bit off the line. Does not consistently beat man coverage. Not strong against contact and relies mostly on finesse. Gets hesitant when attacking the ball over the middle in traffic. Rarely created after the catch. Not a strong player who can shake off tacklers and lacks twitchy movement in tight areas.
