Ourlads' Profile:
2026 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS MCCLELLAN:
Missouri | Hometown: North Tulsa, OK | HT: 6037 | WT: 313 | 40 time: 5.05 | Hand: 1100 | Arm: 3378 | Wing: 8312
Two year starter. Transferred from Florida in 2024 where he was a backup for two seasons. Has a prototypical body for an NFL interior defender with a blend of height, length and build. Has played a 1 technique out to a 3 and would slant both inside out from there. Excellent functional strength, he shoots his hands into a blocker with a quick punch and consistently holds the point. Solid read and react to blocking schemes he can re-direct off blocks to make plays inline. Flashes ability to penetrate on gap charges and shows a powerful club move to get free. At times, controls blockers with powerful hands and makes a tackle off the shed. Explodes into inline tackle opportunities with a burst along with strong wrap and finish. Missed tackles are rare. As a pass rusher that same club move is effective and he also shows a swim move off of that. Solid with a bull rush into a move he can collapse the pocket with powerful leg drive. Shows agility to react once free and has made some second effort plays in the backfield. Shows an out to in counter, but other than that there is little if his first move stalls. Lacks knee bend and tends to play upright and lose leverage on blocks. As a result he is easily controlled on double teams and by athletic linemen. Use of hands is inconsistent and if a blocker gets into his frame he has trouble re-loading. McClellan does a lot of things well but needs consistency in technique along with a better pad level. He could develop into a rotational interior defender in the right scheme.
