Three-year starter. Spent four seasons at Virginia prior to transferring to Notre Dame in 2025. Fields is an X receiver who is the aggressor when press coverage comes into play. He is as thick and strong as he is long, but can also get over the top with initial burst. Had a high success rate on passes 20+ yards downfield and it stems from the combination of size, ball tracking, and strength in his hands. His style of play complements his frame well. He has proven to be a formidable deep threat capable of making the high-difficulty plays while maintaining steady production in other areas to create a safe number two or three receiver-projection. Physicality is his game and the ceiling of big play threat gives him an abundance of highs while keeping the floor high. Well-developed skill set that is clean across the board. Detail-oriented with his footwork and coordination. Feet get on and off the ground with twitch and power. Looks the ball into his hands. A weapon on third down and near the end zone. Ran the fade route often and can overpower and out-reach defensive backs in contested situations. Excels at high pointing the ball with awareness of where he is. Struggles to maintain pad level out of his breaks. Will need the extra step or two to gear down. Needs to use his size better underneath and come back to the ball. Has never been an elusive guy after the catch. Has a hard time staying over the top on vertical routes.
