Three year starter. Second-team All-SEC in 2025. Played off the ball from over the guard to overhang. Technically sound, he's rarely out of position. Has been the quarterback of the Texas defense the past two seasons with excellent communication pre snap and during pass plays. Shows good instincts playing the run. Quick to read and react, he has solid inside run fits and ball carrier tracking. He shuffles downhill and laterally and normally takes the right path to the ball. Adept at taking on blocks on the move and gaining ball side leverage. Long arms help him stun and separate and slip blocks while locating the ball. Can handle bigger inline blockers and tight ends while aligned on the edge. Can chase to the perimeter and is a solid wrap up tackler. Has a big tackle radius and rarely misses. Consistently makes plays in space. Very good anticipation at the snap on blitzes and has been effective hitting gaps and avoiding blocks. Has blitzed off the edge and A and B gaps and has made several big hits in the backfield. Flashes cover skill in man and zone. Has range in zone coverage with quick drop and reactions with the ball in the air. Has been reliable in man coverage in short space. Has been effective picking up flat releases peeling off on blitzes. Instincts and angles to the ball make up for hip tightness that shows up at times changing directions. Can be too easily blocked on blitzes if he can't avoid the blitz pickup. Cover skill overall was average in 2025. He spent too much time covering grass in zone coverage and at times would lose the throwing lane staring in the backfield. While lack of elite agility is a concern, he has the tools to develop into a three down NFL off the ball linebacker.
