Two year starter with one at Nebraska. Transferred to Texas A&M after four years at Nebraska where he made 17 starts. Has a well proportioned frame with average size and length. Has a physical fearless playing style with a high motor. He's physical with a tenacious second effort. Primarily a blocking tight end, he's quick at the snap with an explosive strike inside the defender's frame. Gets a solid punch to play behind his hands. Gets up the second level cutting off the defender. Stays on blocks in space and can wall defenders off. As a receiver he has soft hands and can go up and get the ball on contested catches. Adjusts well to bad balls. Has been reliable on underneath routes and has made some solid catches in tight quarters. Consistently makes catches while taking punishing hits. Needs to work on his footwork to sustain blocks. Has to be more violent on his double team blocks to create movement. Needs to develop a wider base at the point of attack to avoid losing balance against powerful defenders. Not a lot of production as a receiver, but while at the Senior Bowl showed flashes of ability to run routes and snag the ball. Boerkircher is an older late rising prospect who helped himself at the Senior Bowl. Has much more polish than just being a one dimensional player. Will get the opportunity to show his receiving skills in camp. He should compete for a roster spot as a complementary tight end.
