Two year starter. Preseason All-SEC first team in 2025. Well proportioned frame and length to go with athletic ability for the interior. Had a slow start to 2025 coming off his 2024 end of season shoulder surgery. Played from a 3, 2, 2i, 1 and 0 techniques based on the defensive call. Shows decent snap quickness to go with explosive heavy hands when attacking blocks. Holds the point with excellent contact balance and rarely gets moved out. Adept at a quick stab where his long arms allow him to quickly separate and shed while squaring up in the hole. Plays with knee bend and can knock a guard or center back on initial punch. Shows agility to redirect off a block to make a play inline. Generally locates the ball well while working off blocks and is effective constricting holes forcing backs to adjust path. Adept at hitting gaps on stunts and disrupting play design. Has made several plays on slant moves, beating an interior lineman to the gap. Has range to chase along the line. At times after a powerful initial pop he stops his feet and is stalemated. Struggles at times with double teams and down blocks, losing his gap. Lacks ideal bulk for a nose tackle but has the frame to add quality weight. As a pass rusher is more of a collapse the pocket player then a guy who consistently gets to the quarterback. Lacks hand usage and he tends to get upright trying to run a move. There is little variety to his plan and he definitely could use more technique in that area. As a guy who played behind some great players, he's still developing but has flashed solid run stopping ability. He has the upside of an NFL starter most likely in an even front.
2025 Stats: 23 T, 4 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 2 QBH. Draft projection: 1st/2nd round
