Three year starter. (two at James Madison). All-Sun Belt first team in 2023. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in 2024. Transferred from James Madison in 2023. Compact frame that lacks bulk. Played overhang and stack linebacker. Solid key diagnose and inside run fits. Flies downhill and can beat a blocker to the hole. Flashes ability to slip blocks on the move working outside. Excellent lateral movement from shuffle to run. Change of direction is normally quick, sticking his foot in the ground and accelerating. At his best as a chase linebacker with incredible playing speed topping out over 22 mph on the GPS. Can get to the alley in a hurry to make a play, often outrunning climbing blockers. Playing overhang he can chase from the backside across the field. Often used to blitz, his quickness and burst has produced several pressures and quarterback hits. Speed and agility are on display in coverage with depth in drops and vision to balance high/low routes and read the quarterback. Senses pattern pressure to stay under deep routes and break on underneath throws. Sudden reactions with the ball in the air, getting to the throwing lane from a distance. Launches into tackles but is sometimes a bit out of control overrunning a ball carrier. Needs consistency with angles and breaking down to tackle. Has missed some tackles on underneath throws by hesitating and lunging. Lack of size inhibits take on ability as he struggles with straight up blocks. A blocker with a clean shot can bounce him out of the play. Projects well as a core special team player with sub package potential.
2024 Stats: 82 T, 10 TFL, 2 sacks, 8 PBU, 5 QBH, 3 FF, 2 INT. Draft projection: 6th-7th round
