One-year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in each of the past two seasons. Typically aligned on the edge from five-tech out to a wide-nine. Tall with a solid-sized torso and long arms. Considerable athletic profile with quick feet, excellent lateral agility, and explosiveness. Bursts off the line to win with speed. Engages with low pad level to gain leverage immediately. Possesses a quick arm-over to beat tackles at the point-of-contact. Tools and talent to be a consistent threat as a pass rusher. Has shown a number of successful moves to win in pass rush including a long arm and hand swipe, and has countered successfully with a deadly spin move. Asset on slants and stunts with suddenness and burst. Gets his long arms in the air when he doesn’t get to the quarterback to break up passes; seven breakups in 2024. Tightens down the edge with great lateral agility and shows patience to contain. On the interior will skinny-up and squeeze his way into gaps to show up on the other side. Attempts to punch out the ball on contact and has been successful multiple times over the past two seasons. Excellent effort in pursuit and will not give up on the play. Plagued with inconsistencies that he needs to figure out to take the next step. Very late reacting to the snap negating his explosiveness off the line; gets reached and sealed off quickly. Inconsistencies when shedding blocks and struggles to extend. Can get knocked off balance on initial contact. Versus zone run schemes he gets washed down the line quickly with little resistance. Struggles to corner with some tightness in his lower half.
