Three-year starter. Team captain his final year. Second-team All-Big 10 this past season, honorable mention in 2022. Plays Will linebacker where he aligns in the box and apexed based on formation. Plays his best football when coming down to the line-of-scrimmage. Unafraid to contact and throws his body on the line to stalemate linemen. Best at inserting into gaps with aggressiveness to squeeze through. Good strength to close off run lanes inside of him by driving tight ends into the gap when setting the edge. Considerable speed and quality athleticism as a sideline-to-sideline defender. In zone coverage, reads quarterback eyes with targets in his peripheral to leverage his zone and take away threats. Jams receivers in his zone to disrupt timing. As a secondary contain, bursts out of his stance and takes great angles to the quarterback. Adds value as a blitzer with his physical playstyle. Slow to read and react to different blocking schemes. Bites too hard on action in the backfield. Gets sucked into the box creating easier blocks for linemen. Shows difficulty getting overtop climbing linemen. He shows difficulty mirroring running backs out of the backfield with some tightness in his hips. Bounces off of ball carriers and needs to work on tackling technique. High potential for success on special teams where he will make his money.
