Three-year starter, Suwanee, GA. Second-team All-Big 10 this past season, honorable mention the previous two seasons. Tall tight end with plenty of room for growth. Tough, physical run blocker at the first level, utilizing a combination of excellent physical toughness, hand placement, and pad level to win at the point-of-attack. Engages with great functional strength to knock back linebackers and nickels with force, and seals them off to open up running lanes. Excellent skills in pass protection as he shows the anchor and functional strength to hold his own versus power rushers on the edge. A viable short/ intermediate target in the passing game, and a reliable checkdown option. Soft hands to secure catches, and holds onto the ball through heavy contact. Utilizes his big catch radius and long frame to position himself in tight coverage to haul in catches away from his body. He is a bruiser with the ball in his hands and will run through defenders to pick up significant yards after contact. Lacks overall athletic ability and foot speed. Fringe burst out of his release, and needs to take longer strides to speed up quicker. Lacks foot quickness and agility when climbing, and needs to be more assertive when engaging at the second and third level. Needs to engage with his hands as a slicer. Fringe hip fluidity at the top of his route to fluently change direction and create separation. He is not a reliable deep threat in the passing game. Needs to work on his cuts to create separation at the top of his route. Not a threat to pick up significant yards after the catch.
