Junior entry, two year starter, Kauai, HI. First team All-Big 10. A productive, high motor player with a unique skill set. He played as a traditional 3-4 outside linebacker that was used to both rush the passer and drop in coverage. His size is that of an off the ball linebacker and that is his projection in the NFL. His athletic traits are those of a Will linebacker. A natural knee bender and has a violent punch working against a blocker. Turns his quickness into power and can stack and shed physical tight ends to set the edge. He comes off blocks quickly and has excellent speed in pursuit often chasing plays down across the field. Excellent tackling skill he gathers and drives through tackles. Solid in space he is consistent tackling on the perimeter. Explosive first step rushing the passer he shows quickness to gain the edge with the quickness and agility to counter oversetting tackles. Shows incredible range and closing burst chasing quarterbacks. Projects well as an inside and outside blitzer. Has been primarily used as a flat defender when asked to drop and does the job processing route combinations outside. Gets under intermediate outside routes and is sudden breaking on throws in the flat. Hasn’t demonstrated the ability to take on blocks inside and will have to develop that skill. His lack of size is a concern against a powerful athletic blocker. Has been stalemated by big offensive linemen. The tools are there to develop into a run and chase Will with outstanding blitz skill. There will be an adjustment period but he should be a factor on special teams as he develops.
