2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about MARIO GOODRICH:
Clemson, 6002 176 4.52. One-year starter, Kansas City, MO. First-team All-ACC in 2021. Versatile physical corner with experience in a variety of coverage including deep outside Cover three and quarters along with hard corner Cover two. Also played off and press man. In off coverage shows a quick pedal and forward break with the play in front. In press uses his hands to control the release and stays connected with low hands through the early phase of the route. Knocks receivers off their path. Excels as a hard corner re-routing and getting into a lateral shuffle working underneath intermediate routes. Balances high low routes creating indecision by the quarterback. Flashes a quick plant and drive, playing up on flat throws and hitches. In deep outside zone he plays with a cushion and processes route combinations well. Has a decent feel for balancing overlap in zones. Has decent ball skills when the throw is in the vicinity. Can get to the catch point and battle for 50/50 balls. Plays the run with physical hands to stack and shed stalk blocks. Launches into tackles with gather and finish. Flashes agility to make plays in space but lateral movement at times can be labored. Lacks a recovery burst if a receiver gets up on his toes and accelerates past him. A little segmented in movements and lacks the quick twitch to get to the ball on shorter routes in front. Makes more tackles than plays on the ball. Has made some big hits as a gunner on special teams. Projects as a backup/special team player in a zone scheme with a possible move to safety.
