Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about TAY GOWAN: Central Florida, 6010 177 4.55. One year starter, Covington, GA. Started collegiate career at Miami (OH). Transferred to Butler CC for a season and then UCF in 2019. Opted out of the 2020 season to prepare for the NFL draft. Has a slight build but very good length which serves him well in man coverage. Has played both off and press man often using press and bail when playing off coverage. Has shown the speed to stay with vertical routes and can be sticky in press and trail technique. Normally mirrors route breaks and stays in phase up the field. Has made some nice plays staying on the hip of a receiver and breaking up a pass by cutting off a break. Can be physical using his long arms to disrupt receivers at the line. Has some solid zone skill using peripheral vision to balance routes while seeing the quarterback delivery key. Has flashed ball skills breaking with the ball in the air and getting inside hand to the catch point. Has some inconsistency reacting at the line as he is prone to going with the first move and giving up leverage. Improved during 2019 season with two and offhand jam but there was the occasional whiff. At times separated badly on a route break putting him in recovery mode (which he does well). Not the most physical tackler and sometimes the contact comes to him and he can get run over. He is a raw prospect but has the athletic tools necessary to play corner in the NFL. He will fit with a team that sees a talent that can be developed. 2019 stats: 31 T, 1 TFL, 8 PBU, 2 INT. Fourth/fifth round. (A-31 1/8, H-8 1/2, VJ-35.5, SS-4.27).
