Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about DEVIN ASIASI: UCLA, 6030 257 4.73. Junior entry, one-year starter, Shoreview, CA. Began his career at Michigan in 2016 and was forced to sit out all of 2017 because of the transfer. Didn’t really pop onto the radar until 2019, where he earned honorable mention All Pac 12 honors. Finished second at UCLA in receiving averaging a hefty 14.6 yards per catch. A good athlete who moves with easy fluidity as a route runner all over the route tree. Can get onto the defense in a hurry and when the ball is near him in traffic, he almost always comes away with it. Doesn’t look ready for NFL blocking duties just yet, but he shows the necessary effort that coaches can work with and will impact the passing game. The risk here revolves around a lack of experience, giving him a bit of a boom or bust label. Quick and abrupt accelerator for a player this big. Can scurry up the seam in a hurry, has made more than his fair share of downfield catches. Boxes out defenders with his wide frame as he goes for the ball. Hands-catcher with a large catch radius. Dependable in a crowd, made a lot of contested catches. Fluid, easy adjustments to balls thrown away from his path. Can stop himself and reach back with good coordination. Has a knack for finding the vacant pockets against zone coverage. Fast to get his head around with fast hands. Just one season of real production and starting snaps. A poor blocker inline who can’t seem to lock his hands on or line his feet up. Doesn’t get movement on defenders. Needs to re-work his body a bit in the weight room. Inconsistent ability to break tackles after the catch. 2019 stats: 44-641, 14.6 ypr, 4 TD. OSR:14/19. Fourth/fifth round. (A-33 1/4, H-9 3/4, VJ-30.5, SS-DNP).
