Ourlads' Profile:
2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JOSH JONES: North Carolina State, 6013 220 4.41. Junior entry and three-year starter from Walled Lake, MI. Started two years at strong safety. Moved to free safety in 2016. Had 25 passes broken up in his career. Top tier triangle numbers. Fast, explosive, rangy safety who has an ability to get to the action and finish. Excellent last line of defense type defender. Sure tackler who can be relied upon in space. Pursues hard and will catch anyone within his potential grasp. Physical presence is always there. Has a fast-twitch when reacting to the action. Effective in one-on-one situations when going after the ball. Athleticism has the ability to take over. Over-aggressive and a lack of instincts. Too easily fooled by the quarterback’s eyes. Consistently playing a game of catch up. Poor angles towards the action. Needs to flatten sooner and take fewer recovery steps on play action fakes. Can hurt a defense as much as he helps it. Jones has somewhat flown under the radar. A productive-across-the-board defender who totaled eight interceptions over his career in addition to being an aggressive run defender that flies all over the field. His tools are top notch, but mentally he shows too many lapses in concentration and an overall lack of instincts. He’ll need to show he can play with more discipline before he can be depended upon as a last line of defense. 2016 stats: 109 T, 4 TFL, 1 sack, 11 PBU, 3 INT. OSR:2/22. Fourth/fifth round. (A- 32, H-9 3/8, VJ-37.5, SS-DNP).
