2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about BRAXTON JONES:
Southern Utah, 6051 310 4.97. Three-year starter, Murray, UT. Earned All-Big Sky honors all three seasons. Jones checks all the boxes when it comes to size, speed, and natural force. Has thick, powerful tree branches for arms with a pair of bear paws for hands. When he has everything lined up, he can do serious damage. His issues are technique and body type-based. The thin lower half lacks stability and his high-hipped frame makes it tough for him to naturally slide laterally. Has high enough upside to warrant a draft and stash type situation to possibly someday be a swing tackle. Has the pro measurables across the board. Extra length on his arms and enough width to be a true factor if he gets himself into position. Solid, two-handed thud as he initially strikes with heavy force. Has solid initial burst out of his stance while keeping his paws ready to pounce. Good timing and coordination with his feet and hands, showing complete cohesion with each other. Readjusts hand positioning while keeping his numbers facing forward. Aggressive, nasty demeanor. Balance and ability to adjust seems overly labored. High-hipped with an odd body, lacking girth below the waist. Struggles to sustain against fast lateral movement. A heavy mover in space as a run blocker that leads to inaccurate hands. Lacks a true, stable base and the foot-quickness when it comes to reaction is not natural. Pad level will always be an issue.
OSR:12/51. Fifth/sixth round. (A-35 3/8, H-10 1/4, BP-26, 10-1.70).
