2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about BAILEY ZAPPE:
Western Kentucky, 6004 215 4.78. One-year starter, Victoria, TX. Transferred to Western Kentucky after two highly productive seasons in an Air Raid offense at Houston Baptist. Stocky build with below average NFL height. Solid vision he can find holes in zone defenses. Can quickly come off the first read and get it to the next one in the progression. Very good at finding alternate receivers. He shows excellent ball placement and decent velocity on quick, vertical, and intermediate throws. Can adjust velocity on his throws to meet the demand. Throws an accurate deep ball with enough touch to get it in a window away from a defender. Release speed is not optimal to beat tight man coverage or to get it in a tight window. When moving in the pocket, mechanics suffer and he will put it up for grabs at times. Accuracy suffers when on the move. He will labor on some deep balls and overall arm strength is average. Not going to make plays with his feet as he lacks the mobility to consistently scramble out of trouble. Occasional bad decisions have led to turnovers. His outstanding production can’t be ignored, but his lack of physical attributes will give many teams pause. Still he has the upside of a third quarterback who could develop into a backup.
2021 stats: 475/686, 5967 yds, 69.2%, 62 TD, 11 INT, 17 yds rushing, 3 TD, 168.9 QB rating. Ball velocity 53 mph. OSR:8/9. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 3/4, H-9 3/4, VJ-30, SS-4.40).
