2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JEREMY RUCKERT:
Ohio State, 6054 252 4.75. Two-plus year starter, Lindenhurst, NY. Earned Honorable Mention All-Big 10 honors in 2021. Was the number two overall tight end recruit out of high school but he never quite matched the hype because of a crowded and talented wide receiver room at Ohio State. He saw just 71 targets over three seasons. Dropped just one pass over his career and scored 12 touchdowns on those 71 targets. Has displayed his ability to block both in-line and up the field. Can be a weapon and an asset, one that sneaks up on the league in a classic “Y” tight end role. Well-proportioned frame with thickness below the waist to aid him as a blocker, but athletic enough to get in and out of breaks quickly as a route runner. Big and strong hands that grip the defender hard after violent contact but also soft enough to quietly swallow the ball when a pass is thrown his way. Smart player who does all the little things right on a consistent basis. Sinks his hips with easy knee bend and active feet in the trenches. Constant inside position with his face mask forward when engaged. Quality threat near the end zone. Gets his head around fast with ready hands. Responds well to contact and will come away with the ball in crowded situations. Tough guy for a long defender to bring down after the catch. Upfield burst, overall leaping, and sudden agility when he is moving at full speed is lethargic. Not the kind of athlete that will put a defense on its heels. Lacks wiggle and change of direction burst with the ball in his hands. Won’t be a natural ball carrier, lacks innovation. Frame looks pretty much maxed out at this point.
2021 stats: 26-309, 11.9 ypr, 3 TD. Second/third round. (A-32 5/8, H-10 1/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
