2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CORDALE FLOTT:
LSU, 6006 175 4.40. Junior entry, two-year starter, Saraland, AL. Long and lean corner with experience as an outside corner and nickel. Settled into the starting nickel back role in the LSU defense in 2021. Has experience in a variety of coverage but at his best as an underneath zone defender. In short flat zone coverage, is adept at getting underneath intermediate routes and breaking on short throws. Fluid in his initial movements his pedal maintains spacing. Has excellent vision to see the quarterback and pattern pressure. Processes route combinations and reads the quarterback’s intentions. Quick to plant and drive with the ball in the air. Has made some big hits underneath. Solid agility in all transitions. As a man defender shows the speed to stay with a vertical route. Moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in pursuit. Has ball skills both attacking the catch point and high pointing interception opportunities. Has made some spectacular leaping plays on the ball underneath intermediate routes. Uses hands to take on and slip blocks in run support. Normally a secure tackler but will give up yards and can have a tackle broken by a physical runner. Physical blockers can lock him up. Struggles with route breaks from shifty receivers. Gives up too much room. Lacks physicality in man cover and can be out-positioned. Vulnerable to double moves. Has tools to develop but needs more playing strength and could add some quality weight to his slender frame.
2021 stats: 40 T, 1 TFL, 3 PBU, 1 FF, 1 INT. Fifth/sixth round. (A-30 1/8, H-8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
