2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DRAKE JACKSON:
USC, 6035 254 4.75. Junior entry, three-year starter, Corona, CA. Second-team All-Pac 12 the past three years. Has the desired length for a 3-4 outside linebacker with a somewhat linear frame. Played from a two-and three-point stance. Quick off the ball he can get to a blocker’s outside frame before he sets. Excellent agility for a guy his size, he can avoid offensive linemen’s hands with body positioning and quick change of direction. Versus the run he’s at his best chasing from the backside or moving laterally down the line. Speed rusher with remarkable ability to bend the edge and get around the corner and chase down a quarterback. At times with just a quick hand swipe avoids contact altogether. Has a variety of moves with an arm-under, swim and quick counter off a wide charge. Fluid change of direction gets him seamlessly into an inside upfield charge after starting wide. Adjusts well to quarterback movement. Has been used to drop in flat coverage and length creates problems for quarterbacks in the throwing lane. Solid wrap up tackler he uses his length well to secure tackles in space. Lacks lower body power and will play high at times. On straight up blocks by a powerful tackle is easily stalemated. If a run play is at him he has not been much of a factor. He can’t turn his quickness into power at this point and needs to develop stack and shed. Inconsistent in pursuit with the play away. His ability to get around the corner in the pass rush is an elite quality teams are looking for. Still a work in progress as a complete player, but upside is there of a 3-4 rush linebacker.
