2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about ALONTAE TAYLOR:
Tennessee, 6001 199 4.36. Two-year starter, Manchester TN. Fourth-team All-SEC in 2021. High cut corner with excellent deep speed. Played a variety of coverage with emphasis on Cover three and two along with some press and offman. In off-coverage shows a fluid pedal and turn and run. Has the speed to stay on phase on vertical routes and ride receivers to the sideline. As a hard corner, is physical with re-routes rarely allowing a clean vertical release off the line. Has tied receivers up driving them to the sideline. Flips his hips back laterally and gets underneath intermediate routes. Reads the delivery key well and breaks on the short throw with some big hits and plays on the ball. Solid outside Cover three defender he doesn’t get beat deep and can match speed outside. Solid processing route combinations in the deep third. Closes voids in overlap zones creating hesitation by quarterbacks looking in that direction. In press he is effective with an off-hand jam to disrupt release and is usually disciplined to ignore the first move away from leverage. Solid ball skills he can get his head around in phase and find the ball. Can play the catch point in phase or coming forward. Is normally an effective tackler with knee bend and finish. Average mirror ability, as he can get a little hung up in transition. Can be a little late coming out of a break as some slight hip tightness shows up. Cushion can get too big at times and he allows some easy catches underneath. Can be a little hesitant in run support and has given up too much room reacting at times. Has been used effectively as a gunner on special teams. He fits with a team that emphasizes zone coverage.
