2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about KYLER GORDON:
Washington, 5114 194 4.52. Junior entry, two-year starter, Mukilteo, WA. First-team All-Pac 12 in 2021. Has experience in press and off man and deep outside zone coverage. Fluid in all movements he has outstanding athletic traits to play corner. Smooth backpedal in off coverage he is sudden coming out of a pedal to break on the ball or transition laterally. Maintains cushion and can easily change speeds to react to receiver’s movement. Flawless to turn and run he can stay in phase up the field and on sharp route breaks. As a press corner can be disruptive with strong hands to re-route on vertical release. Can trail and get under a break closing the window to throw in. Over the top ability to break and drive on throws in front of him. Excellent footwork there is no wasted movement changing directions. Shows ball skills for the interception and pass break. Has a knack for timing reactions to the catch point when in phase. Can go up and high point the interception with solid hands. Physical in run support he also makes some big hits after the catch. In going for the big hit he doesn’t always wrap and will miss some tackles as a result. As an outside zone defender he’s inconsistent reacting to pattern pressure outside. At times will hesitate versus overlap routes or jump one route without seeing the concept. He needs to see the threats and the quarterback delivery key as a whole. Can get a little too physical with his jam and there is some unnecessary grabbing. He is a tremendous athlete with upside to play in a variety of schemes but still needs some development. His cover skill and toughness could project to nickel for some teams.
