Ourlads' Profile:

2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DREW LOCK: Missouri, 6036 228 4.68. Four year starter from Lee’s Summit, MO. Voted team captain three years in a row. Above average arm strength and is in the middle of this year’s quarterback class. Two key components of quarterback play are decision making and accuracy. There are numerous other critical factors and criteria but if you don’t have the first two, every game is going to be a struggle. Lock’s career is pitted with bad decisions and poor quarterback mechanics. He rarely throws a tight spiral. More of a wobbly hard to handle type ball. Accuracy is graded by the pass to a receiver, not just his passing percentage. Lock’s passing percentage would be much higher if he threw a clean ball to his receivers who had many drops. Ball placement to his receivers is off. Many times the receivers must slow down to make a drastic adjustment to the ball. Early in his career his downfield reads and progression were elementary. This year the system was more prooriented where he checked the ball down and used his feet as a short pass. (He scrambled for short gains). Most of his passing problems are tied to his footwork. He could get away with poor footwork on short swing passes. Struggled to keep his receivers on their routes down the field because he acted like he was hopping on hot coals in his bare feet in the pocket. Throwing off his back foot was the norm, not the exception. Majored in the run/pass option game as well as straight play action. Threw the ball behind his receivers on a regular basis. A good athlete who can run for positive yards when a play breaks down. Flashes a quick release. More of an arm thrower than using his lower body to set up. Inconsistent body control to pass down the field. The right handed passer only won one game against the 10 ranked teams he played against. His arm delivery angle is inconsistent. A developmental prospect that will be drafted too early because of need. Currently grades out as a career backup or “stop gap” starter. 2018 stats: 275/437, 3498 yds, 62.9%, 28 TD, 8 INT, 175 yds rushing, 6 TD, 147.7 QB rating. Ball velocity 54 mph. OSR:4/16. Second/third round. (A-32 1/2, H-9, SS-4.12, VJ-31).
