Ourlads' Profile:

2015 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about TAYLOR HEINICKE: Old Dominion, 6003 198 4.58. Four-year starter and a three year captain. A poor man’s Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. Productive every year on every level. Became just the 18th Division I quarterback to pass for 10,000 yards and rush for 1000 yards. Was the 2012 Walter Payton Award winner as the best player in the FCS and was a consensus all- America. As a prep in Atlanta, GA he passed for 4218 yards in one season which ranks second in Georgia state history. His 44 touchdown passes ranks third. A well built and durable quarterback. Was the top quarterback at the East-West Shrine practices. Will stand in the pocket and take a hit. Athletic enough to make plays on the move. Has poise and a good pocket presence. He was accurate to all areas of the field and demonstrated good field vision and the ability to process information quickly. He improved his timing the more he worked with the receivers throughout the week. Good zip on the ball. Has definite arm talent. A good short and intermediate passer with good ball placement and anticipation. Ranks 3rd all-time in FBS history with 16,279 yards of total offense. Fourth in FBS with 132 touchdown passes. His 14,959 yards passing was the 6th most in FBS history. Lacks the desired measurables. Must work at taking snaps under center and improve his NFL internal clock. Needs to improve his deep pass accuracy (over 55 yards). Two areas of strength an NFL quarterback must excel in are decision making and accuracy. Heinicke has both. He has demonstrated good footwork, balance, and pocket vision. The right-handed signal caller understands what he is seeing, but with many spread pitch and catch offenses, he will need to learn the nuances of the NFL passing game. An instinctive player who is reliable, consistent, and confident. 2014 stats: 289/457, 3476 yds, 63.5%, 30 TD, 14 INT. Not invited to Combine. Sixth/seventh round. (A-28 3/4, H-9 1/4, SS-4.18, VJ-35).
