Sparsely challenged by opposing QBs last year after a sophomore season in which he grabbed a nation’s-best eight interceptions. Still wound up recording 30 tackles, with a career-high six vs. Clemson and five in three other contests. Added 10 pass breakups, and returned a blocked FG 63 yards for a TD vs. Delaware State. Was a Nagurski Award finalist in 2016, when his eight INTs also garnered All-America honors from FWAA. His tally included a clinching INT vs. Ole Miss and game-turning pick as FSU rallied to beat Miami. McFadden’s eight INTs were the most by an ACC player since 2014 and most at FSU since Terrell Buckley’s 12 in 1991. High school coach Mike Rumph was a 49ers first-round pick after playing on Miami’s 2001 national champs.
