Josh Adams went from a good athlete that happens to play running back to a legitimate top 15 overall prospect this season. The speed he shows in the open field has been proven to be more than capable of running away from defenders in space. He is as dangerous as it gets when it comes to having a full head of steam, running downhill, in space. His straight-line acceleration and burst will swallow any gap in front of him in a blink. He easily runs through arm tackles through the first, second, and third levels of the defense alike.

Fifth on Notre Dame’s all-time rushing list with 3,198 yards, albeit with fewer rushing attempts than anyone else among the top nine. Just missed setting Irish single-season record in 2017, as his 1,430 yards came up seven short of Vagas Ferguson’s 1979 total. Nonetheless, Adams got there in 95 fewer carries than Ferguson. Led the nation with seven runs of at least 60 yards, including four that went 70 or more. The quartet of 70+ runs (all TDs) came in four consecutive games, the first time since at least 1996 that anyone compiled such a streak. Adams’ career average of 6.65 yards per carry ranks No.3 on Irish all-time list. Owns longest run in Notre Dame Stadium history with 98-yard dash vs. Wake Forest as a freshman in 2015.
