2024 NFL Prospect Rankings: Tight Ends

Georgia

Projected Round: 1

He's what the NFL is looking for in a receiving tight end. He can line up wide, inline or in the slot. Excellent route running skill and the ability to separate on a route break. Excellent hands and catch radius he has playmaking skill and can stretch the seam. Tough as a blocker but lacks the bulk to be consistently effective inline. Can get to the second level and block in space.

Kansas State

Projected Round: 2-3

Sinnott has served as an alignment versatile Swiss army knife in the Kansas State system that earned All-Big 12 honors in 2022 and 2023. His strength is blocking both inline and as a fullback lead blocker. As a traditional inline blocker he shows a quick get off and power to neutralize a defender and create movement. Effective sealing the edge he can direct a defender creating space to run. Excellent lead blocker from the backfield he can blow up a force defender on the perimeter. A work in progress as a receiver he hasn't shown the ability to separate from man coverage and has mostly been targeted working short routes against zone coverage.

Projected Round: 2-3

Two-year starter. A former defensive player and wide receiver that took some time to develop at tight end. Brings the physical brand necessary to factor as an every-situation threat and weapon for the offense. Can stay on field in all situations and has plenty of experience lining up all over the field, including the backfield. Adjusts to the ball naturally. Can twist and turn once in the air and get to balls away from his frame. Tremendous ability after the catch to get away from tacklers with both agility and speed. Does not make in-line blocking impact and is too easily deterred by traffic as a receiver.

Penn State

Projected Round: 2-3

Has seen action as a rotational tight end in Penn State’s offense since he was a true freshman in 2020. Had his best season in 2023 with 32 catches and 6 touchdowns. Has excellent size for an NFL tight end and came to Penn State as a versatile former receiver. Had a limited repertoire of routes he ran, mostly intermediate and shorter routes. He rarely was able to use his speed other than after the catch. He was extremely effective when targeted due to a tremendous catch radius and strength to win at the catch point. Made a lot of yards after the catch thanks to ability to break tackles. Has upside as an inline blocker and has flashed ability to seal the edge and get movement. If he can develop as a route runner his receiving traits and size make him an intriguing prospect at the next level.

Ohio State

Projected Round: 3-4

Two-year starter. Accomplished high school basketball player began his career at Ohio State as a defensive player, playing both on and off the ball on the outside. Made a full-time move to tight end in 2022 after some back and forth the year prior. Has shown enormous strides within the skill components to the position, notable as a route runner. Clean footwork and soft hands make him a reliable and very useable weapon underneath. Physical try-hard blocker who can stay attached and create movement off the line. Physical style will show up with the ball in his hands. Nasty competitor who gets more out of himself than most. Slight tool limitations will limit the upside.
