Ourlads' Profile:

2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JAMES ROBINSON: Illinois State, 5090 219 4.62. Three-year starter, Rockford, IL. Three-year All-America and Missouri Valley all-conference first-team mention after a prep career where he started for four years. During his high school days he set the all-time Illinois state rushing mark with 9045 yards and 158 rushing touchdowns in his career. The powerful running back finished his Redbird career ranked second in rushing yards with 4444 and 44 rushing touchdowns. He racked up 5218 all-purpose yards and is third in total points scored with 276. He concluded his career in fourth place in average per rush (5.58), rushing yards per game (96), and all-purpose yards per game (113.4). The Shrine Bowl all-star scored the longest touchdown run in the history of the prestigious game with a 63-yard rushing score. He rolled to 80 yards on seven carries, scoring once. He also grabbed two passes for 56 yards. The talented all-around back has vision, patience, and quickness into the hole. He can make the first defender miss and gets extra yards after contact with his pile driving jackhammer thighs breaking tackles as he drives up the field.Outstanding contact balance. Has a good short area burst and underrated hands to catch off target passes out of the backfield. Needs to keep working on getting his feet up through the hole and cutting in the crease. He has fringe long homerun speed but gets the tough two and three yard runs to keep drives moving. Concluded his career with a school record 297 yards in a playoff win over SE Missouri and followed it up with 210 yards in a playoff win over Central Arkansas. Combined he ran for 507 yards in 78 carries and scored three times in the two wins. 2019 stats: 1899 yds, 5.2 ypc, 18 TD, 16 rec, 80 yds, 5.0 ypr. OSR:10/33. Fourth/fifth round. (A-29 5/8, H-8 3/4, BP-24, SS-4.19).

Ourlads' All-Star Edition notes:  James Robinson can catch, run, and block. Had a highlight reel-filled showcase on game day as his vision and acceleration to his top speed was on full display. Robinson is an innovative decision maker with the power to break through initial contact and showed the knack for finding the right lanes and creases to burst through. Was edged out by Benny LeMay for game MVP after Robinson rushed for 80 yards in seven carries and scored once. He also snatched two passes for 56 yards.
