Ourlads' Profile:

2019 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about DAVID SILLS V: West Virginia, 6032 211 4.58. Fifth year senior and two year starter from Wilmington, DE. Had two different stints at West Virginia. After a highly-touted high school career at quarterback, Sills was put into the wide receiver rotation in 2015 but left the program to pursue his quarterback career at a junior college. Ultimately he realized his NFL future was solely at receiver, thus he returned to the Mountaineers and put together two straight All-American seasons. In West Virginia’s high-power spread attack, Sills was a touchdown machine that pushed 50/ 50 balls to 70/30 balls in his favor. His 33 touchdowns over those two years were among the many highlights he has on tape. Lacks some important athletic and measurable testing numbers, but there is no denying how special his ball skills and awareness levels are. Pair him with an accurate thrower and he will produce at a high level, but he is just a step shy of being a number one. Smooth operator with ultra-advanced ball skills, awareness, innovation. A borderline dominant force in 50/50 situations not because of talent or tools, but his ability to position himself and attack the ball with his hands. Can pluck the ball with minimal post-catch. Tracks it like a Gold Glove centerfielder and comes down with full control and awareness of where his feet are in relation to the boundaries. Has standout-ball skills. Very attentive to details as a route runner, can turn on the same blade of grass over and over. Too easily thrown off by physical defenders at the point of attack. Needs to add strength if he is going to be a possession-style receiver in the NFL. The size is average at best, don’t be thrown off by the height/weight. Below average arm length and hand size. Won’t jump off the screen when it comes to speed or explosion, limited deep-game impact. Has had more than his fair share of drops stemming from concentration heading into traffic. 2018 stats: 65-986, 15.2 ypr, 15 TD. OSR:24/42. Fifth/ sixth round. (A-32, H-9, VJ-37.5, SS-4.29).
