He excelled at anchoring his position and keeping teammates free. Also showed some surprising speed in pursuit for such a big player. His run defense will be upper-tier but for teams that want their interior linemen to impact the passing game, he may not be their guy. Has a limited repertoire and he doesn’t have the capacity to be an every down player. Can be a high-end run defender if a team is looking for rotational help, but he may need extra time to develop because of how little college football he played. Wide frame and a lot of bulk, vast majority of which is above the waist. Has an athletic and disproportionally thinner lower half which can make him play faster than he looks. Shows good closing speed when chasing the action down laterally. Gets involved in a lot of action via hustle and pursuit speed. Disruptive and attention-demanding off the snap. Gets his hands locked on with excellent pad level. Will be able to two-gap and not give up much ground if at all against the double team. Shows quick hands when he stacks and sheds against the inside run. Plays a little heavy footed at times, intensity wavers up and down. Conditioning appeared to be an issue. Doesn’t always fire off the ball. May be a run defender only. Doesn’t have much in his pass rush arsenal beyond pushing a sled up the middle. 2019 stats: 39 T, 3 TFL, 2 PBU, 1 QBH.
