Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JARED MAYDEN: Alabama, 5117 201 4.65. One-year starter, Sachse, TX. Experienced at corner and safety, Mayden cracked the starting lineup at safety. Rotated at corner and nickel in previous seasons. Played mostly deep safety but has experience in the box. Tracks well moving downhill from 2 high and can be physical tackling in space. Fundamentally sound with solid awareness in the deep zones. Maintains cushion with controlled pedal and positions to balance vertical receivers in 2 deep. Good vision to see routes and the quarterback and rarely out of position. Shows anticipation and range to drive to deep outside routes with the ball in the air. Has ball skills for the interception. Not as good matched up as he can get separated on route breaks. While in position and around the ball a lot he does not make many plays. Not consistently aggressive and can be a step late reacting. Has been used successfully in kick coverage and this will be a factor. Versatility a plus and he projects as a backup/special teams player. Senior Bowl notes: Played nickel, corner and safety. Showed range and positioning on receivers. Has chase ability in the short zones and could lay a hit tackling. Broke quickly on the short throw. Was physical in press over a slot. 2019 stats: 59 T, 1 TFL, 3 PBU, 2 QBH, 4 INT. Not invited to Combine. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 78/8, H-8 5/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
