Strong with hands to get separation from a tackle or tight end. Athletic with solid change of direction and the speed to chase across the field. Moves well laterally and has fundamental tackling skill. Breaks down and makes plays in space. Junior year played well in space as a linebacker. In limited reps in coverage was effective in the flat getting depth in his drop and breaking on the throw. Has a burst to close in the pass rush and can get around the corner. Can rush the passer when free from a block. Lacks overall pass rush technique and just seems to go. If he doesn’t win with speed he is often ridden out or stalemated. Needs to develop more technique. Has some trouble escaping blocks on plays at him. Lacks power to consistently hold up at the point. Will lose leverage too easily. Flashes talent and playmaking skill but is often quiet during a game and numbers are not what you look for in an elite edge player.
