Ourlads' Profile:
2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DARWIN THOMPSON: Utah State, 5090 195 4.50. Junior entry from Jenks, Oklahoma. A one-year starter at Utah State after an All-America junior college season in 2017. In his one year, Thompson earned second-team All MWC honors after totaling nearly 1,400 total yards and 16 touchdowns. An undersized but stronger-than-you- think back who runs low to the ground and does a nice job of avoiding the meat of a tackle. With that said he is merely an average athlete when it comes to quickness and speed. Could be a solid pass catching back that takes advantage of being in space on the move, but when it comes to overall impact, his ceiling is very limited. Short, built low to ground with powerful legs. Makes extra effort to run even lower, making his contact point hard to find for tacklers. Contact balance is tough and he couples that with toughness and hunger. While he won’t ever be considered a power back, he does pick up a lot of yards after contact. Quality hands that can adjust and pluck like a receiver. Finds the creases in space and shows good acceleration to his top speed. Small frame that looks maxed out. Can easily be taken down by lone defenders that get a strong grip on him. Shows some tightness as a lateral mover. Needs more wiggle for a back his size. The speed in the open field appears limited. Gets caught from behind and struggles to get the long separation against NFL caliber speed. 2018 stats: 1044 yds, 6.8 ypc, 14 TD, 23 rec, 351 yds, 15.3 ypr, 2 TD. Not invited to Combine. Seventh round/PFA. (A-NA, H-NA, BP-DNP, SS-DNP).
